Welcome to Birth Love Family
Birth Love Family is a community platform focused on birthing and raising families. Some of BLF’s features include live video chats with experts in birthing and raising families; blogs offering education and insight into the hidden dimensions of motherhood; and local meet-ups for families, including an amazing festival called Birth Love Family Fest!! The platform offers both professionals and parents an opportunity to share experiences and connect.
Birth and family professionals have long advocated for greater interpersonal connection during the potent periods of prenatal, birth, postpartum, and raising a family. Harmonious and nourishing environments may fulfill that need to connect while producing more favorable outcomes in maternal and familial health. BLF is a response to the need for greater bonding through community, education, and positive experiences.
Shaina Levee, M.A., created Birth Love Family after more than a decade of research and exploration on birth and its potential to positively influence mental health. Shaina is a somatic therapist specializing in birth psychology, and skillful community organizer. She is joined by BLF co-creator Julia Alter, LICSW and doula. Julia offers her beautiful poetry and voice of mothering to the community, and is a licensed and practicing thera-pist specializing in LGBTQI and women’s health. Pippa Dorfman, CYT and doula moderates the BLF web forum, and offers expertise as a labor doula, pre/postnatal yoga teacher, and former midwife apprentice. Pippa is a co-creator of Birth Love Family Fest.
